Serves 2:
Tajin
flakey salt
2 blood oranges, 2 thin slices removed for the glasses
2 limes
100ml tequila
25 ml Cointreau
1/2 red chilli, cut into rounds
agave, optional
When life gives you blood oranges, put them in your spicy marg!! You never really know how bloody the insides will be until you slice into one and it often feels like a good omen when you get a particularly deep red one (but either way, they’ll taste just as good!)
Blood orange picantes
Add a large pinch of salt and some tajin to a plate. Rub the rim of the glass with an orange wedge or brush with agave, dip it in the salty tajin mix and set aside.
Combine the blood orange, lime juice, tequila, Cointreau and chilli in a large jug or shaker with ice. Stir or shake to chill the liquid.
Pour the cocktail into glasses over lots of ice, garnish with the blood orange and a slice of chilli et voila!!
